A selection of artworks, reflection and development of practice
Litchfield’s Pixelation works on the idea that pixels are the building blocks of any digital image – they are the fabric of the digital.
Here the pixel as fabric of the digital is juxtaposed and made visible against the wooden fabric of the tabletop. Photoshop and photoshopping as a cultural edifice and mainstream practice is foremost of the artist’s concerns and interests. By combining the digital and a playful interactive physicality the work draws attention to the way both strata involve a fabric and a craft, a materiality and its manipulation.
